Meat fed and finished on grass using practices similar to ours have an excellent fat profile: comparable to salmon in its Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio. Specifically, it has significantly more Omega-3 fats and significantly fewer Omega-6 fats. It also has a high level of vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 is important for heart health and bone health: it helps get calcium into your bones (where it belongs) and not into your arteries (where it causes plaque and heart attacks). Grass-fed meats also have many antioxidants, especially vitamin E. In addition, grass-fed meat contains conjugated linoleic acid. Conjugated linoleic acid is a type of fat that might be very important for preventing weight gain.
Our All Natural Practices
We do not spray any chemicals pesticides or use any chemical fertilizers on our pastures. Our soils are tested and natural fertilizers are utilized when necessary. We rely on the grazing animals for weed control. In addition to grass, we feed our animals balage, alfalfa and orchard grass hay during the winter months. The animals also have salt and minerals available as needed. We do not use any growth hormones or implants of any kind. Our animals are typically healthy and we only use antibiotics when absolutely necessary. These practices lead to a high quality, healthy product in which our customers can be confident.
